Kyoto + Lilikoi Ramen BBQ - Boba
Our founder, David Fan, always loved Boba tea. From an early age, he had the desire to bring this delicious drink to the wider community. In fact, he first had the idea to start his own Boba tea company at the age of 10.
After graduating from college, he started the first US-based Boba factory: US Boba Co. From there, launched multiple Boba tea stores throughout California, bringing his dream to life.
Born in Myanmar (also known as Burma), Chef Steven graduated in 2007 from California State University, Fresno with a BS in Computer Information Science. Despite his parents’ disapproval, Chef Steven decided to pursue his career as a chef and received a loan to study at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Las Vegas in 2010 at the age of 31. By 2011 he was already a Dim Sum Cook at China Poblano in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and was later promoted to Sous Chef and Executive Sous Chef in 2012 and 2020, respectively.
Chef Steven was also part of the opening team for Ku Noodle at SLS (now known as Sahara Las Vegas) by José Andrés. In 2014, along with José Andrés and his team, Chef Steven went to Peru to explore the different types of food and ingredients that can be used in their restaurant; and by January 2015 China Chilcano by José Andrés, a Peruvian Restaurant, was inaugurated in Washington DC.
As a new chapter in his career, Chef Steven opened his own Restaurant, Kyoto Ramen + Lilikoi Las Vegas in July 2021, specializing in Hawaiian fusion food and ramen noodles.
